black rats

Black Rats    

Also known as the ship rat black rats have become an invasive species for Europe. They are smaller than the brown rat there head and body length is 16-24cm. Their weight is 150-250   in 1943 black rats came to Midway Island in the pacific.   
People brought black rats to Europe by accident they can eat a wide range of food from grain to eggs. They damage rice crops and eat food stores. They can climb so they are able to prey on young birds and eggs.
